Storm Aileen battered Hoylake overnight and into the morning, with winds of up to 75mph delaying the start of play until 09:30.
Teeing off first in the harsh conditions were Vasilis Samakovlis of Greece, Nikolas Pitiris of Cyprus and Serena Mackenzie from Trinidad and Tobago.
With some unpredictable weather, it was a tough challenge for our Young Champions. Yesterday’s top three players struggled to retain their lead, with just Keita Nakajima holding his top three position. Ben Jones from England crept into first place by the afternoon, with John Paterson from Scotland not far behind him in second place.
Due to the weather earlier in the day, golfers were in play late into the afternoon. By the end of the day, Jones and Paterson held their leads and Rasmus Neergaard-Peterson from Denmark took third place position.
