After an exciting first day at Royal Liverpool, there are 3 players in the lead with a score of 71 – Felix Van Dijk from The Netherlands, Keita Nakajima from Japan and Maja Stark from Sweden.
The Players were battered by strong winds and rain yesterday during the Practice Round, but luckily conditions today were much improved and the sun made an appearance for the majority of the day.
First up on to the tee at 08:00 were Greg Dalziel representing Scotland, Amanda Gudrun Bjarnadottir representing Iceland, and Pranavi Sharath Urs representing India, who all did a fantastic job of opening The Duke of York Young Champions Trophy 2017.
With the weather picking up and the sun shining, Swedish players Maja Stark and Oscar Teiffel both made an early lead, with a joint score of 2 under par on the 5th hole by 10:45.
Stark continued her lead throughout the afternoon, with Van Dijk and Nakajima catching up on the scoreboard.
Junior golfers from 31 countries are taking part in The Duke of York Young Champions Trophy 2017.
The Duke of York will attend the Official Tournament Dinner tonight at Royal Liverpool Golf Club.
